Cheryl Akle has been appointed project director of Books Alive, Australia’s largest promotion of books and reading.
Cheryl brings more than 20 years of book industry experience to the role, having held senior positions in marketing, sales and advertising. She has previous worked as marketing manager for Random House Australia, and as national buyer for Dymocks and Myer-Grace Brothers. Most recently she worked as a consultant on projects including the launch of Book Choice, a world-first marketing initiative providing advertising and promotion for the book industry.
Her role as project director will focus on managing every aspect of the 2008 Books Alive campaign – the highly successful promotion that encourages all Australians to discover the joys of reading. It will be held in August.
